I know few who enjoy reading direct mail. But I do believe that one can look at a concept, headline, copy or art direction and appreciate the effort that went into it. What you “see” is not copy, but ideas. A writer is most effective when he or she writes the least: their ideas are best when transformed into simple images.
An invitation to a big event for a big client comes to mind. How do you get your biggest clients to give up 5 days of their lives to join you at one of the biggest sports events in the world?
Easy — if it’s a short plane ride away. Not easy if its 20+ hours away by plane and they have similar offers from other major sponsors. PorterWrite met this challenge by creating a device that evoked the magic of Silk Road and an Epoch Journey, and placed it inside a custom built embossed tin box containing a painting on a beautiful silk scroll. Wrapped around the scroll was the invitation to join the client at the Olympics in Beijing. The concept was carried over to the event hospitality headquarters.
I am a writer, name generator and idea man. My work appears in ads, direct mailers, magazines, newsletters, websites, taglines, scripts, fliers, pitches, PowerPoint presentations, films, annual reports, compendiums — you name it.
My job is to get people to read and understand the message in as few words as possible.
I can accomplish any design job from concept to print or launch by relying on my deep and talented network of friends in graphic design, web site development, photography, illustration, video production and advertising. I can scale up or down to meet the need. No job is too small or too big.
